Navigating the Women in Tech Landscape: An Overview by Ladies Who Tech

Communities for women in the tech industry create spaces where members can connect, share experiences, and support each other on the path to success. These communities help participants develop their skills, build careers, and discover new opportunities in the industry.
With various formats available, women can choose the community that best fits their needs—from networking groups and online platforms to private clubs and specialized mentorship programs. All of these options provide a safe and supportive environment for women striving to advance their careers or make a positive impact through technology.
Given the diverse landscape, many communities for this target audience coexist across online, hybrid, and offline spaces. At Ladies Who Tech, we’re often asked: "What sets you apart? What is your USP?" This led us to evaluate well-known Russian- and some of the English-speaking communities, identifying key goals and visions. Here’s a closer look:

Community Type: Hybrid (80% online, 20% offline)

How to Join: Direct inclusion in the Telegram chat, participation in events and mentorship programs
Who’s in the Community: Women working in IT and those interested in technology
Key Goals: Support gender diversity in tech, talent development, experience sharing, and assisting with career transitions (toward tech entrepreneurship and innovation)
What You Won’t Get: Personalized recommendations or answers outside of mentorship programs, as the community focuses on trends and broad topics.
How to Join: Direct link through the founder's social media
Who’s in the Community: Women entrepreneurs and professionals in venture capital and investment, startup programs
Key Goals: Support women in venture business, share knowledge and resources, develop entrepreneurial skills, and create a professional network
What You Won’t Get: Local offline interaction (except during major conferences), or 1-1 communication after your intro (proactiveness and clear requests are the key to success!).
How to Join: By invitation from members; general applications are reviewed quarterly
Who’s in the Community: Startup founders and C-level executives (60%), investors (25%), corporate and innovation ecosystem representatives (15%)
Key Goals: Accelerate the resolution of professional and career issues, help members showcase themselves as speakers/experts, and create a network of professional and personal contacts
What You Won’t Get: Workshops and events on general topics (career, money, personal branding, etc.), "it depends" answers, or long, script-like posts.
